Conference tourism is taking on an increasingly international flavor in San Sebastián

Conference tourism is taking on an increasingly international flavor in San Sebastián

MICE tourism, or “Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions” tourism, is growing on a yearly basis in San Sebastián and is becoming increasingly international in its scope. San Sebastián Turismo & Convention Bureau is a firm supporter of conference tourism due to its strong potential for growth and the valuable contribution that it makes to the promotion of the city as a year-round destination with an international outlook.

53.15% of conferences held in San Sebastián in 2017 were of an international character. Events of this type lend San Sebastián an important visibility and positioning in foreign markets. Many of the conferences were held outside of the peak tourist season, with 72% of conferences being held between January-May and September-December.

San Sebastián occupies the 6th position in the ICCA 2017 ranking for Spain which evaluates cities that regularly host events involving at least 3 countries and at least 50 delegates.
